Obama arrived on the base 3:19 p.m. local time (1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time) and received a rousing welcome from 1,500 troops in camouflage uniforms, many holding cameras or pointing cellphones to snap pictures.
"You guys make a pretty good photo op," the president said.
Meanwhile, he wouldn't even go to Fort Hood right after the massacre happened. However, the REAL commander in chief did show up within 34 hours and WITHOUT a camera corps and entourage. The only way any of the public would ever find out about his visit was from those who were there and got to meet him, and from one of about 2 existing pictures taken by a family member. Speaks volumes, does it not? A REAL commander in chief doesn't have to use the military as a prop to make him look like a real leader.
